According to the spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, a request has been made for the deployment of three companies of Rangers in Rawalpindi, five wings in Attock, and one company each in Jhelum and Mianwali. The Rangers contingents will be deployed to assist the Punjab Police until October 5, 2026. The spokesperson added that the deployment of Rangers will be made under Article 245 of the Constitution of Pakistan, Sections 4 and 5 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, and Sections 7(b) and 10 of the Pakistan Rangers Ordinance, 1959. The letter has been sent to the Federal Ministry of Interior on the request of the Punjab Police for assistance in security. The spokesperson further said that protection of the lives and property of the people remains the foremost priority of the Government of Punjab.Section 144 Exemption:The restrictions will not apply to wedding ceremonies, funeral prayers, burials, mosques, and other places of worship. Courts, government offices, and events held with formal permission will be exempt from the restrictions. The restrictions will not apply to law enforcement agencies, intelligence agencies, and security personnel deployed on duty."
